Another great trip to Forgue Fishery.

Image
GCFflies finally got out for a fishing trip over the weekend and once more Forgue fishery did not let us down. We got to the water at about 9a,m and already there were two guys fishing at the far end of the Horseshoe pond for those that don't know that's the pond on the right-hand side of the hut. The water was high in each pond, but that's exactly what I expected due to the rain we have had over the last few weeks. But most importantly it was jin clear and there were a few fishing moving,( more likely taking buzzers) my first thought when I got there was to go a bit deeper and use the intermediate because it was quite cold and only sitting at about 4-5° on a small thermometer I had. But seeing the fish moving I decided I needed to have a closer look at the water before deciding what method I would use. When I stood at the water for about 5 minutes it was like a millpond not a breath of wind on the water so I could see loads of trout just cruising past and they were only ab...

Hi, all just thought how about every now and again I give you guys a rundown of my top 10 selling flies most will be from the website and some will be one-offs or flies I have sold on Facebook not sure if I will do it monthly might be a bit much but definitely do it every 2 or 3 months. In each blog, we will cover  1) The flies 2) methods to fish them 3) Pictures of the flies 4) Links to the fly on the shop 5) Will also include a money-off code for the top-selling flies. So in at number 10 is the orange Nano Bunny Leech this is a fly I personally have used loads of times and has not failed me even in the worst of weather fish it very slow on the intermediate line using a figure of eight retrieve and wait for the hard hits. Number 9 is one of the best color combos in any trout lure Orange & Black this one is the Orange & Black mini fritz  the 3 pictured are tied on size 14 wet hooks. Fish this fly on your favorite method as it will fish just as good on a flo...

Trip to loch insch

Image
On Tuesday me and my brother had a trip up to Loch Insch Fishery.  First time being there and can say it looks great and definitely will be going back. We both caught 4 rainbows each and two of mine coming on the last 10 minutes of our tickets. All caught on a mixture of lures from GCFLY Shop , we both tried cormorants and other flies throughout the day with no luck.  Plenty of other takes for both of us if we weren’t so rusty. Will definitely be going back again shortly to try to beat our score.

Once more Forgue fishery delivered again. I had the great pleasure of being joined up at the fishery yesterday by two of my customers/friends  David Secker and Colin Adam two great guys and great fishermen as well. The fishing started off a bit slow but soon picked up I started with the John Deer lure on the intermediate and mixed the retrieve up some time fast some time dead slow and was getting hit after hit but everyone was taking short did take a bit off the tail of the fly hoping it would help but like normally happens the fish stop chasing it as it’s the great movement of the long tail that attracts them. Whilst I was fishing the John Deer my son-in-law (Connor) had put on one of my bung flies and put on a bumblebee egg and had instant interest taking two fish in two casts and nice 2-3lb fish at that. Once more I did more talking than fishing for a start but I think it’s all part of fishing nothing better than a good blether with likeminded guy’s lol W...

GCFflyshop @ Forgue

Well once more Forgue Fishery did not disappoint and it was fantastic to see so many others out enjoying the fishing, scenery, and the weather pity the latter was just a bit bright and warm for the fishing lol. I had arranged to meet up with Sarah Watson and her 17-year-old son Josh to try and give him some help to start him on his fly fishing journey. Well let me tell you it did not take long and Josh was able to start casting and within 5 minutes he had hooked, Panicked and lost his very first rainbow on the fly it was funny to see the panic then the disappointment on his face when he lost it. I hope Josh sticks to the fly fishing as we so need young blood into our great sport of fly fishing and hope to see Josh in the next few weeks to see if he has taken in some of the help I gave him and his casting has improved and we can get him a fish and land it this time lol. AS for my fishing well with helping Josh and having some great chats with other’s I only landed up with ...
