Saturday morning

Had a wee 3-hour session at my local association water. It was off to a quiet start with not much action a few jumping but no interest in our flies. Towards the end, I got a nice-looking rainbow on a blue Mop fly. This is the first time I’ve used a fly like this! Will definitely be using it again.

GCFflyshop @ Forgue

  Well once more Forgue Fishery did not disappoint and it was fantastic to see so many others out enjoying the fishing, scenery, and the weather pity the latter was just a bit bright and warm for the fishing lol. I had arranged to meet up with Sarah Watson and her 17-year-old son Josh to try and give him some help to start him on his fly fishing journey. Well let me tell you it did not take long and Josh was able to start casting and within 5 minutes he had hooked, Panicked and lost his very first rainbow on the fly it was funny to see the panic then the disappointment on his face when he lost it. I hope Josh sticks to the fly fishing as we so need young blood into our great sport of fly fishing and hope to see Josh in the next few weeks to see if he has taken in some of the help I gave him and his casting has improved and we can get him a fish and land it this time lol. GCFflyshop at Forgue Fishery

    Well I was meant to post this on Monday morning but just haven’t had the time so typing this up a t half 1 in the morning, that’s dedication for you lol.   So on Sunday GCFflyshop and my future son-in-law had a day up at Forgue due to being quite busy with  tying fly orders and some other holdups I haven’t been since the longest day fishing challenge so was quite looking forward to getting up.   Let me start by saying it was so nice to see Bob back down at the fishery as the last time, I saw him he was not a very well man but was just great to see such an improvement in his health and was also great to have a long chat with him.   As for the fishery I was so pleased to see how good it was looking grass was all cut and best of all the ponds were looking great.
